Fix – Not Receiving Emails in Hotmail Account

Numerous users have been experiencing Hotmail Not Receiving Emails over an extended period of time, and the worst part is that the cause of this behavior is unknown. According to Microsoft, there could be a number of possible explanations for this vexing behavior.

Fix – Hotmail Not Receiving Emails

If you’re not receiving emails to your Hotmail account, you can try the following possible solutions:

Note – We combed through numerous forums and internet sources and discovered that one of the solutions resolved the issue for the consumers.

Check The Service Status

The very first thing you may do is verify the status of your Hotmail account’s service. Click here to see if there is a problem with your Hotmail account. If you have any problems on the Hotmail end, you can contact the support team.

Check Your Junk Email Folder

In Outlook.com, navigate to the ‘Junk Email’ folder. If you discover an email in your inbox that you’ve missed, right-click on it and flag it as not garbage. After that, the email will be transferred to your inbox.

Clean Your Inbox

If your Inbox quota is reached, you will be able to send emails but will not receive them. How to check your Storage:

To view all Outlook settings, click the Gear icon and then on View all Outlook settings.

Following that, pick the General menu and then Storage. On the right pane, you’ll see comprehensive information on your storage.

Following that, navigate to the General menu and then to the Storage section. The right pane contains comprehensive information about your storage.

To empty the Inbox, navigate to the Junk email folder, right-click, and then choose Empty Folder. Apart from that, we recommend that you delete any unwanted emails from your Inbox.

Check The Other Tab

Hotmail allows you to create a Focused Inbox, which divides your inbox into two tabs. You can create a Focused and Other tab to allow you to focus exclusively on emails that are important to you.

If you’ve opened another tab, your email is presumably in that one. Check the other tab for the email, and if it is there, right-click on it and select transfer to Focused inbox. Your email will be moved to the concentrated inbox from another tab.

Check The Rules

There are rules that can be configured to prevent you from viewing emails. To view and edit the rules, click the Gear icon and then the View all outlook settings button. To begin, navigate to Mail and then to the Rules option.

If you discover a rule that is preventing you from viewing the email, you can update or delete it. To do so, select the rule and then click edit or delete to modify or eliminate it. After that, click Save and return to your inbox.

You may begin receiving emails.

Check For Email Forwarding

One of the most common causes of your Hotmail account not receiving emails is that email forwarding has been enabled.

Click the Gear icon > View All Outlook Settings > Mail > Forwarding to determine whether email forwarding is enabled.

If you notice that email forwarding is enabled on the right, click on stop forwarding.

Checked Blocked and Safe Senders

If you block a sender, you will not receive email from that sender. However, you can unblock the sender.

Navigate to the Gear icon > All Outlook Preferences > Mail > Junk Email. On the right, Check the Blocked Senders list for the sender’s email address. Remove the email address from the list. After deleting, click the save button. You will then begin getting emails from the sender.

To view all Outlook settings, click the Gear icon > View All Outlook Settings > Mail > Junk Email. On the right-hand side of this page Examine the Blocked Senders list for the sender’s email address. Remove the email address from the list. After deleting, click the save button. You will now begin getting emails from the sender.

After this, emails that you have added to your Safe Senders list will not be routed to the Junk bin.

Check if your account is blocked

Occasionally, the company may temporarily disable your Hotmail account due to unusual sign-in activity. You can find out more about how to unblock your hotmail account by clicking here.

  • Log in using your existing Hotmail address (@hotmail.com, @msn.com, or @live.com, for example).

Once this is complete, you will be able to use your Hotmail email account with Outlook and access data through the Outlook dashboard.
