MS Word includes a live word counter that displays the total number of words in the document. It is typically located at the bottom left corner of the screen.
Fortunately, Google Docs includes a similar function, but it is hidden under the settings, and users must explicitly access it in order to use it.
How to Find the Word count on Google Docs

Select Word count from the menu bar at the top.

- The document’s page count
- The total number of words in the document
